Listened to the show Saturday and it was not bad. Been a week of weather, from storms and chills to hot heat and sun. I like that about the Midwest. You know what you’re gonna get but you’re not sure when. There’s a fine mix of random abstract and concrete sequential, and it keeps a girl on her toes. Gotta be mindful. With the list of events unfolding in this household, the calendar is essential in the midst of a swirl of lists: grocery, bridal shower, grad party, lawn care, personal items. Today I’ll pick up vases, drop a jacket off at the drycleaner, have lunch with a friend, help my daughter with their wedding program, get prices on nuts, pre-order buns, check on the grad cake, pay bills, tend to the flowers.
Listened to the show Saturday and it was not bad. Had just pulled in from one of five college trips this week, the first, and it was iced tea and the show with all the windows open, just for a while. So much is happening this spring I’m finding a moment here and there of nothing, complete with beverage and music and perhaps some rhubarb pie, is just the thing.
Listened to the show Saturday and it was not bad. It was just our youngest daughter and me — everyone else was either in college or out doing motivational talks — and we made the best of the day. The surprise came when she suggested we go out for dinner. Not take-out, which we love, but OUT. To the Chinese buffet. “I’ll pay with my gift certificate,” she said. Oh my. She’d gotten several from friends for Christmas, and she wanted to spend one on me.
Listened to the show Saturday and it was not bad. I’ve been hungry for bacon lately, craving it really, and cooked up two pounds of it during the show. By the time it was all said and done, Mr. S and I had a lovely meal of BLTs and some broccoli salad with bacon and a plate of lemon brownies which had no bacon in them, though it was a thought. And bacon it was.
